Description
The Vigor2710n is a highly integrated ADSL2/2+ router with VPN capability targeting SOHO (Small Office and Home Office) and residential broadband access requirement. This integrated network access device not only offers rich functionality with up to 24Mbps bandwidth in downstream but also a built-in secured wireless access point. The integrated economical design makes the ideal balance of ease of use and secure network management.
Vigor2710n complies with 802.11n Draft-n standards. The wireless LAN isolation, Mac address control, and WEP/WPA/WPA2 encryption let you easily set up wireless network for your home.
You can attach USB storage device to USB port of Vigor2710n to share files. Or, you can use USB printer by connecting it to USB port.
Besides powerful firewall protection against malicious Denial of Service (Dos) attacks, the Vigor2710n is designed with more advanced security feature such as Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) to offer network reliability by detecting attacks and prohibits malicious penetrating packets from entering internal network.
The easy-to-use CSM (Content Security Management) can prevent family from the connection to web sites that contain illegal or objectionable content. The use of bandwidth/session consuming Peer-to-Peer (P2P) applications can be properly managed by embedded CSM.
Furthermore, embedded with VPN support for confidential remote access, the Vigor2710n is equipped with powerful DES, 3DES encryption engine and automated key management via IKE to easily create 2 simultaneous VPN tunnels.

Replaced an old main brand router with the Vigor 2710n, looking for overall stability and good wireless performance. I have not been disappointed. The wireless coverage is superb, with even the farthest reaches of the house never dropping below 60%. In the detached brick garage I get 40% and in the greenhouse 20 metres behind the house 20% where I could still run BBC I-Player without a problem. Documentation is a bit sketchy, but the router is very easy to set up. I didn't hit the streaming video problem highlighted by another Dabs reviewer.

I had high hopes for this router, given it's many reviews and awards. Set-up was straightforward (PC, wirelessly to laptops, ipad, iphones, Sony TV, Panasonic IP camera). PnP worked well, also setup of static routes and firewall config. Wireless signal strength was excellent all over the house and in the garden. Unfortunately, and bizarrely, any streamed content (YouTube, BBC iPlayer etc.) would only work for less than a minute, then the feed would inexplicably stop. Same problem on all devices. So, not fit for purpose. Replaced with Netgear DGN3500, which, so far, has worked flawlessly.
