I don't get the other review.

Go online, and do a search "Officejet 6500 review". You'll find that most reviews are positive.

I brought this simply because I needed a wireless printer. Yes there were cheaper alternatives but the all-in-one sold me.

Print-out wirelessly probably takes 3 seconds - which is fine because the laptop needs to talk to the router and the router to the printer.

Time it took me to take it from the box, set it up and print wirelessly was about 10 minutes. That was because I had Windows 7 and needed to download the driver and install it from the internet.

Scanning - perfect

I'd say buy it...

Judging by HP Officejet 6500, HP’s reputation is by far overrated. This machine is a disaster. It is so slow that it is painful to wait for printouts. Even the most patient users would get nervous while waiting for documents to be printed. The quality is extremely poor. I haven’t tried high quality printing, but, as it must be compensated against the speed, I couldn’t afford to allow more time for printing. With setting on ‘normal’ printing quality, anything that should be printed black, forget about it. The same applies to copying.
I ordered this multifunction machine in rush and I’m very sorry for that, but I thought that an HP printer can’t be that bad. I replaced Canon MP780 which broke and it could not be guaranteed that it could be repaired (but call out charges should be paid anyway). I chose HP because I wasn’t too happy with Canon’s customer service’s response, but, again, regret it now.
