The reputation preceeds this one! I was going to go Sandy Bridge, and get the 2700K, but by the time my budget had blossomed, the 3770K had dropped down in price to £249.
My goal with this chip was to have something that would deal with my Photoshop and Lightroom requirements, and if possible get me playing some light games.
My expectations have been surpassed! I expected to get somewhere around 4.2Ghz on air, and I did not expect to be able to play games very well, especially some of the bigger names. My budget didn't allow for a dedicated GPU, so I had to go take what I got, and it has done me proud!
I currently have this chip running comfortably at 4.6Ghz on a Xigmatek Dark Knight cooler, and it eats everything that I through at it. I have put it to the test today with a couple of games, and I am able to play Deus EX, Just Cause, The Old Republic, and Dirt Showdown at 1440x900 at fairly decent detail levels.
All in all, I am glad I went Ivy Bridge! It is doing a brilliant job!
