Simple Installation

Having tried the D-Link RangeBooster N 650 Desktop Adapter DWA-547 and returned it in disgust(see separate review), this product installed easily, worked first time and appears to pull in a stronger signal. The installation pack was also more detailed and helpful than D-Link's, not that the installation threw up any challenges. No changes to my computer's hardware / software configuration, so Linksys gets my vote. Once again, Dabs service was first rate.

I've held off this review for a few months in case any issues arose, but none did. This card was relatively easy to setup - though it took a few attempts at unplugging it from the board and placing it back on again - and the wireless has not had any issues since I've installed it.
The range is decent; the speed & signal strength has not suffered. I am one floor up from my router, in a Victorian house.
The drivers work fine. The disc installs a piece of network managing software, which I promptly removed the startup entry for; I opted to use the Windows tool, so I can't comment on the software.

Sadly I'm not impressed with this device at all, I expected Cisco to provide a top class product but this time I'm let down badly, for starters the supplied cd should not be run if your running Windows7 x64, you need to download the drivers from the Cisco website.
After installing it, it seemed to run OK but that didn't last long, it continuously drops connection and the radio reception is appalling to say the least, a laptop in the same position in the house can get a perfect signal where this NIC gets fair, and download transfer rates are also terrible, yes its N draft but the G band should still be up to scratch, where I used get 1.3Mbs/s on a laptop I now get maximum 370Kbs/s, lowest 900bytes with this. For the price I expected better.
