Darkfield tracks on surfaces like clear glass* and lacquered desks that stump optical mice and standard laser mice. So now your mouse works wherever you do.
It's all in the details.
Optical and traditional laser mice use irregularities in the surface to track the direction and speed of your mouse. The more irregularities on a surface, the easier it is for the sensor to track your movements. But use your mouse on a smooth, glossy surface like clear glass, and there just aren't enough imperfections for your standard mouse to work. This is where Darkfield Laser Tracking comes in. Darkfield uses the smallest possible details to create a micro-road map of the surface--so you get better precision on more surfaces.
Can this mouse do everything?
Just about. Keep in mind, however, that we haven't designed the first two mice with Darkfield Laser Tracking for gamers or for those working on laboratory-grade clean glass.
If you're making lightning-fast maneuvers and need gaming-grade cursor speed, take a look at the Logitech® G9x Laser Mouse.
And if you're working on exceptionally clean glass, you may have to wait until the dust settles. For surfaces with fewer than 44 microscopic details (per square millimeter) that are less than 5 µm wide and 1.5 µm thick--to give some context, a strand of human hair is about 100 µm wide--you may want to swipe your hand across the surface before using your mouse. But for everyone else, Darkfield Laser Tracking gives you precise cursor control on virtually any surface--even glass.

moved from logitech g5 to this. was very reluctant to move from g5 to anything else as the g5 is so solidly good. had to go wireless tho as the pc is now behind the telly, this mouse is exceptional. it feels only slightly different to the g5 and your "muscle memory" gets adjusted to it very quickly, the extra buttons are very naturally placed and very easy to configure. i needed to adjust the speed a bit and turn off acceleration to make it move exactly like the g5 on max sensitivity but after that its gold. one note worth mentioning is that it doesnt come with an install cd, not that thats really an issue these days as you can pull the driver and software off the net in seconds but it is worth noting. the price is very high but your essentially paying for the perfect mouse. i felt a bit guilty paying so much for a mouse but after a day or two of use you it slides as its worth the extra compared to others

I used many types mouses in last 15 years but this one is definitely the best. I am using it for 2 years and it still works as it was bought yesterday without any maintenance. I can recommend it to anyone. A perfect ergonomic shape. The only bad thing is that battery won't last for long as other mouses. For me battery lasts approx 1-2 months. But there is an USB charger in the package so even if battery dies. you can plug your mouse to USB and continue work without being interrupted by searching for charged batteries.

This mouse is a joy to use. If you spend 7hrs a day with a mouse in your hand, better make it this one. If you have to navidate up and down 1000 lines of code they you need a mouse wheel that has momentum but when you want to move a line at a time then thats a click away. You want a mouse that works exactly the same on any surface. This has easy access programmable buttons so you jump forward and backwards through code defintions (eg in Visual Studio shift+ctrl + and -)you can quickly flip between application spaces eg Visual Studio and SQL Studio or you can connect in Resharper fuctions.
Basically your productivity shoots up. Sure you could do the same if you are an author, auditor or designer. Sure it gould be greate for gammers to.

This is the best mouse I have ever used. My last mouse was also the earlier version of this and it was excellent until it started to wear out after a few years. Fully customisable, a button for everything and very comfortable when you are using it for hours at a time. So good that in a few years I will likely be buying it again!
