Best 24" for under 250 quid!

I deliberated for a long time choosing the right monitor. I finally went for this one for the following reason: 1) 1920x1200 Let me tell you, the extra pixels are worth spending a little extra cash on! Samsung have done a great job here. No dead pixels either and dabs, well, excellent service as usual. I highly recommend this monitor and the dabs service!

I've had this monitor for about six months and I'm very happy with it. No dead pixels. Bright screen. Strong colours and sharp.
In fact, I had to reduce most of the default settings to save my eyes.
I spent a lot of time researching reviews for this size monitor and kept coming back to the 2442BW.
Some slight niggles with the monitor calibration software and the USB ports are not easy to access, but that's so trivial when considering the picture quality. I have seen some really terrible displays. So glad I didn't end up with one of those.
So considering the picture quality for the price, I have to give 5 out of 5.

I have had it know for almost exactly one year nad even though it does get worked quite hard (it sits on a KVM with 4 computers and each one having different frequency and resolution and all of them get used very frequently) there are no faults no dead pixels. it gets recognised by the different OSs (Win2K3, WinXP, Win7, Ubuntu Mav. Mercat). crystal clear picture, easy to use, even reasonable auto-setting (although fintuning is recommended). And with dabs delivery service (ordered 16:55. delivered 9:10 next morning) who could complain.... definitely a recomendation!!!

This screen is getting good reviews from a wide number of sources, but I fail to see why.
Contrast ratio is very poor (no where near the 50,000 claimed) and it was impossible to set it up so the picture looked anything but washed out.
OSD system is quirky and the buttons impossible to see without a light shining directly on the front casing. On-screen legends for the buttons rarely lined up.
Sent it back for a refund.
