Lot of storage but unreliable & shoddy software

I bought this to use as additional external storage to my iMac, as the listing clearly shows it to be Mac compatible. On its arrival I connected it up, installed the bundled software and off we went. I transferred my iTunes library across to it and all was well. For 2 days. Then the Mac would repeatedly freeze, disconnect from the library, hang the Finder and various other problems. Long story short this was only finally cured by doing a full clean re-install of LION. This done, the drive worked well and provided cheap and ample storage. For 10 weeks. When the drive died, and has been returned under warranty to Seagate. Quite simply, this will be the last Seagate product i buy. But you may be luckier...

Doesn't work with Mac OS X Mountain Lion

Bought one to use with OS X Mountain Lion. It doesn't work:
1) The drive will sleep after 10 minutes use when backing up with Time Machine. There seems no way to get around this - any solutions attempted didn't work. Seagate support could not offer a solution that didn't involve plugging it into a PC!
2) The maximum write speed over USB 3.0 is 30 MB/s
3) The NTFS drivers supplied are not compatible with Mountain Lion. Seagate support refuses to supply drivers that are.
